Shaw University’s new President, Dr. Tashni Dubroy is making waves in the business community and have vowed to put the university on the map with its revamped Computer and Information Sciences Program.
A recent article in Bloomberg Business noted that while African Americans make up about 13 percent of the U.S. population, they make up no more than 1 percent of technical employees at Google, Facebook, and other prominent companies. And Less than 5% of people receiving bachelor’s degrees in computer science and other technology majors are African-American. Now Shaw University is working to change that with a plan to become a top producer of highly trained minority technology professionals.
