THE SIMPSONS: “Love Is a Many Strangled Thing” - Paul Rudd

By Jason Matthews

PAUL RUDD, “Dr. Zander”

  • I play "Dr. Zander"…
  • I'm a huge fan of The Simpsons…
  • Being on the show seemed unattainable…
  • I play a touchy-feely therapist for Homer…
  • I don't know what Dr. Zander is going to look like…
  • Today was challenging…
  • This is the fourth time I've worked with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar…
  • It was a thrill and an honor to be a part of this show…

When Homer inadvertently humiliates Bart in front of a stadium crowd, Marge encourages Homer to enroll in a fathering enrichment class taught by therapist Dr. Zander (guest voice Rudd). Shocked to learn that Homer often strangles Bart for mischievous behavior, Dr. Zander conducts a series of treatments with the help of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (guest-voicing as himself) to teach Homer what it feels like to be young and small.

But when Bart learns that the therapy sessions have transformed Homer into a pushover, he takes advantage of Homer and becomes a school bully. Hoping therapy could also cure Bart of his bullying habits, Marge enlists Dr. Zander’s help to patch their relationship in the all-new “Love Is a Many Strangled Thing” episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, March 27 (8:00-8:30 PM) on FOX 50.
