If you ever want to feel old, have the American Idol contestants sing songs from the year that they were born. You feel old 'cause you remember the songs, not that you parents played them, but you actually had that record. WOW!! The oldest people on the show sang songs from 1983 & 1984. Great, I remember '83 & '84!
Naima started the night off with the 1984 hit song, 'What's Love Got to Do with It'. Overall she did ok, but I really think she's going to be in the bottom three. If she makes it through, which she should, she needs to sing a ballad. Really sing it and she'll be good for awhile. Lauren sang 'I'm the Only One', which was a great choice for her and she got her groove back. Come on Naima; get your groove back too!
The judges really like James as always. He sang 'I'll Be There For You'. He just annoys me. That's screaming UGH!!! But this week, my boy Casey decided to jump on the rock bandwagon. He wasn't as bad with the screaming but he had a few moments when he sang 'Smells like Teen Spirit'.
As always, Jacob who sang 'Alone', Pia who sang 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go' and Scotty who sang 'Can I Trust You With My Heart' were the top three of the night. I really think they are going to be the final three. The competition is really between the three of them.
I will say that we can't count out Stefano. He really did a great job singing 'If You Don't Me By Now'. If he keeps sing like he did last night, he'll make the top four or five. My baby, Thia sang 'Colors of the Wind'. I really need her to step her game up. She can sing anything but she needs to put feeling into it! The Vocal Coach from Hell was in the audience watching Thia. Thia was one of the girls that she 'tortured'. Maybe Thia needs to get back with her and work on a few things.
Then there is Karen, Paul and Haley. They really should be the bottom three. Let's just scare Naima but put Karen, Paul and Haley at the bottom. Karen sang 'Love will Lead You Back' and did an okay job. It wasn't the best but will do. Paul sang 'I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues' and I was blue watching it. How did he make the show? It's a shame that he wasn't born a year later so he could have sang 'Footloose'. I'm just waiting for it! Little Haley sang 'I'm Your Baby Tonight'. No, darling you weren't. Sorry. Haley has a good voice but she needs to be in a group, she's not a solo artist. Sorry honey but it's time for you to go home.
What did you think about last night's show? Who do you think is going home?
