FOX 50 VIP: Scoring the final 3, round-by-round
I've always said that you know who is going to win Idol because one night they will just have that performance that you won't ever forget. Last night I think there were three of those moments.
The night started with Beyonce as the mentor to the contestants. Scotty was up first singing Lonestar's 'Amazed.' Although I didn't know the song, I thought he did a really nice job on it. Lauren took on 'Wild One' by Faith Hill. She did a nice job with it, but she didn't really connect with the song the way I wanted her too. Then Haley came out with Led Zeppelin's 'What is and What Never Shall Be'. She even had her dad on stage playing the guitar which was cool. She did her thing on the song. She ran around the judges then tripped up the stairs but got up like a pro. Nice.
Round 1: Haley
The second of the night was chosen by Jimmy Iovine. He selected Thompson Square's 'Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not' for Scotty. Scotty did the song with his guitar gave his signature wink at the end. Nice! Really nice. Jimmy chose 'If I Die Young' by The Band Perry for Lauren. She did a nice job on it but again, she didn't have her moment. Then with the wind machine blowing her hair, Haley sang Fleetwood Mac's 'Rhiannon.' She did an okay job too but there was something missing.
Round 2: Scotty
In the third round, the judges picked the songs. They picked 'She Believes In Me' by Kenny Rogers for Scotty. Nice! He sang it smooth as butter. Lee Ann Womack's 'I Hope You Dance' was the choice song for Lauren. She did a nice job but she didn't take it there for me. I was a little disappointed. Haley sang Alanis Morissette's 'You Oughta Know' and she put a nice spin on it. Nothing to write home about but nice.
Round 3: Scotty
I'm very nervous for Lauren. I'm scared that she can't handle the pressure of being the American Idol. I think her nerves get the best of her. I have a feeling that the final two are going to be Scotty and Haley.
