Celebrity Guest Stars Out, ‘Back To Basics’ Back In On Season 3 Of ‘Glee’ - ARTICLE
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Holly Holliday won’t be heading back to “Glee” any time soon.
On Friday, Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment for FOX, said the celebrity guest spots are out for “Glee” as the show kicks off the 2011-2012 television season on September 20 at 8 PM.
“There’s not gonna be any big guests stars, there’s not gonna be any be tribute numbers,” he told reporters in Beverly Hills during the FOX portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Session 2011. “We’re focusing on our core characters and their relationships.
“There will be a graduation at the end… There’s gonna be surprises,” he added. “It’s not gonna be predictable.”
Reilly didn’t rule out guest stars for the entire season, but said the first batch of episodes back will be focused on the regulars.
“The competition will be alive and we’ll [be] driving to that graduation and what that means,” he said. “Darren Criss is now in the show, you will have the winner from ‘The Glee Project’ joining at some point down the road, but you’re gonna see much more focus on the characters, which is what the fans like.”
As Gleeks know, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer are the three stars whose characters co-creator and showrunner Ryan Murphy has said will graduate, but as for the rumored talk of a spin-off, centering around life after McKinley High, that is on hold.
“The spin off was in the wind and still is in the wind,” Reilly said.
“We had decided to really focus on this year,” he added. “You’re gonna see a back to basics year this year.”
