The National Institute of Mental Health reports that one in four adults-approximately 57.7 million Americans-experience a mental health disorder in a given year. Serious mental illnesses include major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, just to name a few.
This week's show focuses on efforts to help promote scientific research aimed at discovering the causes and potential cures for mental illness through the Foundation of Hope. The 25th Annual Thad and Alice Eure Walk For Hope and 5k & 10k Run for Hope will take place on Sunday Oct. 13th at the Angus Barn in Raleigh. The run starts at 8am and the walk is set for 10am.
