According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, homicide remains a leading cause of death among youth ages 10–24 in the United States. Violence is also a major cause of nonfatal injuries among youth. This week's guest knows firsthand about the causes and the consequences of youth violence.  At the age of 19, he was sentenced to life in prison for murder.  After serving 17 years, he is now out of prison and on a mission to help at-risk youth.  We talk with Mike Anderson, Founder of Polished Souls.  We also hear from a teen who has been suspended and arrested so many times that he was sent to an alternative school.  That's where he met Mike and was introduced to Polished Souls.  He is now working and involved with theater productions through Polished Souls and is changing his life.  And finally, a partnership from the most unlikely of sources.  The best friend of the man Mike Anderson went to prison for killing has now partnered with Mike and is helping mentor youth who have either been arrested or are at-risk. He also provides participants with free haircuts for probation hearings or job interviews.
