Countless studies have shown the achievement gap that separates Black and Latino males from other students. This show focuses on efforts to change that. The North Carolina Community College System has developed the Minority Male Mentoring Program. It's designed to help support minority males students academically, socially and emotionally. One graduate of the program is now a mentor. He shared his personal story of dropping out of college, drinking and doing drugs and then decades later deciding to turn his life around and go back to school. He says the mentoring program made all the difference in his academic success the second time around.
