FOX 50’s Lip Dub Project 2014 Rules & Guidelines

The Project is open to ALL public and private HIGH SCHOOL students, grades 9-12, located in one of these North Carolina counties: Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Northampton, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne or Wilson. (Employees of FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) and their immediate families or members of the same household are not eligible…see, your chances just got better!)

The SUBMISSION PERIOD starts Monday, February 24 at 7AM (ET) and ends Friday, March 28 at 6PM (ET). As much as we like seeing your videos, there are no exceptions to this.

Limit ONE Lip Dub video entry per High School.

What to do:
Video your fellow High School students lip-syncing a song in one continuous take.
Have an adult – 21 years or older, employed as a faculty or staff member of your school – submit the video AND entry form at the same time on www.FOX50.com/lipdub. (NOTE: By submitting the form and video, the High School’s faculty or staff member agrees to ALL the rules, approves of the song and gives permission for ALL students in the video to be in the video.)

About your video:
Video must be one, continuous take either in the High School or on the High School campus.
The only editing allowed is adding the final music to the video.
Graphics and text are allowed only before and after the music video.
Use only ONE song during the video. Oh yeah, no mash-ups.
Video file size can’t be any bigger than one (1) GB.
Please upload a .JPG photo of either your group or a screenshot from your video at the same time you upload your video and registration form.
The only place to submit your video is on www.FOX50.com/lipdub. (Format can be .mov, .wmv, .mp4 or .mpeg.)
The video must be produced entirely by students of the submitting High School. (Here’s your chance to show up the adults!)
PLEASE make sure there is NO profanity, graphic images, obscene or offensive images or conduct, inappropriate behavior, expressions of hate or abuse. Also, be sure you’re not violating any third party’s copyrights or other rights (trademark, privacy, etc.) FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) reserves the right to disqualify any entry/participant in our sole discretion.

After you enter:
A FOX 50 creative type person will get in touch with the High School adult who submitted the entry to verify all the contact info within TWO business days of entering. Then we’ll look at the video to make sure it complies with the rules – we don’t edit, we just watch. Once everything is approved, we’ll post the videos on www.FOX50.com/lipdub for the entire World Wide Web to see!

About voting:
The VOTING PERIOD starts Monday, April 7 at 7AM (ET) and ends Friday, April 11 at 11:59PM (ET). Yep, that’s one week, so make sure you get the word out to vote!

Voting can be done on www.FOX50.com/lipdub and/or the Lip Dub app (available on the App Store and Google Play™). Voting is open to EVERYONE!

Winning:
With all due respect to Charlie Sheen, the High School with the most votes will win the Grand Prize of $10,000. The school with the 2nd most votes will be the 1st place runner-up and win $5,000.
The school with the 3rd most votes will be the 2nd place runner-up and win $2,500.
(Any High School that has previously won the Lip Dub Project Grand Prize is not eligible to win the Grand Prize again. Plus, there’s no substitution of prizes…we’re assuming you want the money!)

If there’s a tie, we’ll do a random drawing from among the tied videos.

We’ll announce the winners during the WRAL 10PM News on FOX 50 like this:

  • 2nd place runner up winner (3rd most votes) – announced Tuesday, April 15
  • 1st place runner up winner (2nd most votes) – announced Wednesday, April 16
  • Grand prize winner (most votes) – announced Thursday, April 17

How to get your money:
Checks will be made payable to the High School listed on the entry form and given to the Principal (or Principal-type) of the winning schools. If any school does not claim the prize by Friday, May 30, they will forfeit the money and an alternate school won’t be chosen.
