FOX 50’s Lip Dub Project 2013 Contest Rules & Guidelines 

ELIGIBILITY:

No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. All federal and state regulations apply. Only students enrolled in public or private high schools, grades 9-12, located within one of the following North Carolina counties at the time of entry are eligible to participate: Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Northampton, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne or Wilson. Employees of FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) and their immediate families or members of the same household are not eligible to participate. 

HOW TO ENTER:

First, record a digital video of your team of high school students lip-syncing a song.  Then, during the Submission Period, fill out the online entry form and upload your high school’s self-created digital video at www.FOX50.com. Do not drop-off or mail videos. Only videos submitted on www.FOX50.com that have completed entry forms and meet all submission and eligibility requirements at the time of entry will be accepted. Limit ONE (1) Lip Dub video entry per high school. 

***Submission period starts Monday, February 11 at 12:01am and ends Thursday, March 28 at 5:30pm (“Submission Period”)***  

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Video and entry form MUST be submitted to www.FOX50.com AT THE SAME TIME by an adult, 21 years or older, employed as a faculty or staff member of the submitting high school. By submitting the entry form & video, the high school’s faculty or staff member agrees to all rules, grants consent for the students’ song selection and grants consent that all high school students and content appearing in the video have been approved and cleared by the high school’s administration.  

Uploaded video MUST meet the following requirements:

1. ALL STUDENT PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN GRADES 9 THROUGH 12.
2. Limit ONE (1) unedited song per video. No mash-ups!
3. Participants must lip-synch the words of the song used on the sound track (new or existing song).
4. Video must be shot in ONE continuous take in the high school and/or on the high school grounds, with permission of high school officials.
5. The ONLY editing technique allowed within the one continuous take is adding the final audio soundtrack to the video. You cannot add any graphics or text to the Lip Dub video.
6. Video file size cannot exceed 500 MB.
7. Videos must be submitted to www.FOX50.com in one of these following formats:
   1. .mov, .mp4 or .mpeg.
8. Videos must not include profanity, graphic images, obscene or offensive images or conduct, inappropriate behavior, expressions of hate or abuse, or any material that could give rise to any civil or criminal liability under applicable law or regulations. FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) reserves the right to disqualify any entry/participants for any said violations, as determined in FOX 50’s (WRAZ-TV) sole discretion.
9. By entering, you grant permission for FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) to receive and display your Lip Dub entry video as described herein. 
10. You may not upload any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or the FOX50.com website.
11.  Non-student adults, including, but not limited to, high school administrators, faculty and/or staff, may guide and advise the production and appear in the video but may NOT operate any video or editing equipment.
12. You must have permission from all persons appearing in the Lib Dub video entry to make the submission and grant the rights described herein.
13. By submitting a video entry online, (a) you grant to www.FOX50.com and FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company Inc. a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, copy, print, display, reproduce, modify, publish, post, transmit and distribute (“Use”) the Lib Dub video entry and consent to such Use on the Internet, on television, and in, on, or through all other media; and (b) you certify that any participants featured in the submitted video entry authorize FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company Inc. to Use the video and consents to such Use on the Internet, on television, and in, on, or through all other media; (c) you agree to indemnify www.FOX50.com and FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company Inc. and its affiliates, directors, officers and employees and hold them harmless from any and all claims and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, arising from Use of the video and/or your failure to comply with these rules; and (d) you represent and warrant that your video meets all submission guidelines described above. 

Entries generated by a script, macro or other automated means will be disqualified. FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if the Contest Rules are not followed. All materials submitted will become the property of FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. and will not be returned. Any expenses you incur during the application process are solely your responsibility. Eligible entries will be posted and available for viewing on www.FOX50.com. Videos may be disqualified from voting and removed from website based on applicable law or regulations.

APPROVAL: After a video and entry form have been submitted, FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) will contact the high school staff member, based on contact information listed on the entry form, within two (2) business days to confirm entry information. Video will not be posted to www.FOX50.com prior to the high school staff member listed on the entry form confirming all information related to the video and entry form to the satisfaction of FOX 50, based on submission guidelines and these Contest Rules.

Once reviewed and confirmed, eligible videos will be posted to www.FOX50.com and be available for public viewing, commenting and voting on web, social platforms and mobile devices.

VOTING: Voting period begins Monday, April 8 at 12:01am and ends Friday, April 12 at 11:59PM.  The public may vote for their favorite Lip Dub video entry during the voting period at www.FOX50.com, www.facebook.com/FOX50 and/or by text to short code 46988. Specific text codes to vote will vary per entry based on number of eligible entries received—check contest website for specific codes for entries once voting period begins. Standard text messaging rates and other charges will apply as determined by your service carrier. Voters are solely responsible for any charges incurred. Text messaging service may not be available in all markets, as determined by your service carrier.  Before voting via text messaging, check with your wireless provider for details. By sending a text to Sponsor, voter authorizes Sponsor to send to the mobile telephone number from which entry was received any future text messages from Sponsor, including but not limited to, commercial text messages and Sponsor announcements.

There will be one (1) grand prize winning video, one (1) 1^st place runner up video and one (1) 2^nd place runner up video. All winning videos will be determined by number of votes (total of FOX50.com, Facebook and text votes) and announced during WRAL’s 10pm News on FOX 50 in this manner: 

• 2^nd place runner up winner (3^rd most votes) – announced Tuesday, April 16
• 1^st place runner up winner (2^nd most votes) – announced Wednesday, April 17
• Grand prize winner (most votes) – announced Thursday, April 18 

In the event of a tie, the winning video will be drawn at random from among the tied videos.

PRIZES:

• One (1) verified grand prize winning high school will be offered a check for $10,000.
• One (1) verified 1^st place runner up winning high school will be offered a check for $5,000.
• One (1) verified 2^nd place runner up winning high school will be offered a check for $2,500.

No substitution of prizes or transfer of prizes to a third party is permitted by winner or runners-up.

NOTE: High Schools that have won the grand prize in any prior FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) Lip Dub contest are ineligible to win the grand prize again.  If prior winner is the top vote recipient, prior winner may be offered 1^st place runner up prize instead, and second top vote recipient will be offered the grand prize. 

HOW TO CLAIM PRIZE:  All checks will be made payable to the high school listed on the entry form and will be delivered either by certified mail or in person to the head administrator at each of the winning school no later than 5/31/13. FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) will coordinate with faculty or staff representative of winners to schedule delivery of prize within two (2) business days of announcement of winning schools. All prizes will be subject to forfeiture if not claimed by 5/31/13.  Compliance with all regulations is the responsibility of the winners. Winners and participants, by acceptance of a prize and/or participation in contest, agree to release FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., its sponsors, advertising and promotion agencies from any and all liability for claims, actions or proceedings for injuries or damages sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while traveling to, preparing for or participating in any contest-related or prize-related activity. Except where prohibited, by playing the contest, or by winning, participants have awarded FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., the right to publicize and/or broadcast their name, photograph or likeness, voice and details and have accepted and agreed to be bound by these rules. 

ODDS:  There are no odds of winning the contest, except in the event of a tie, as winning is not based on chance. Rather, winning is based upon the entrants’ relative performance demonstrated in the Lip Dub video entry and the number of votes received by each video entry.  In the event of a tie in the number of votes received by entries, the odds of winning depend on the number of tied entries. 

LIABILITY: FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., are not responsible for problems associated with television transmission, radio transmission, cable transmission, satellite transmission, phone lines, Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, or other Internet interruptions or malfunctions or for any technical or other difficulties which may prohibit, prevent, or interfere with the transmission of television or radio signals to all or limited geographic areas during the playing of the Contest or which may interfere with a participant's ability to login or register or submit an entry online, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God that are beyond the control of FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. FOX 50 (WRAZ)/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., disclaim any warranty of merchantability, warranty of fitness, and any other implied warranty. FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV)/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., are not responsible for cancellations, postponements, or delays. 

CONTEST MANAGEMENT: 

ANY ATTEMPT, AS DETERMINED IN THE SOLE DISCRETION OF FOX50, TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST. 

Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to damage any online service or web site or undermine the legitimate and fair operation of the Contest will disqualify the contestant responsible and is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) reserves the right to seek damages and/or other remedies from any such person to the full extent permitted by law. 

All decisions relating to the contest and interpretation of these rules are made by the management of FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) in its sole discretion and are final. FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) reserves the right to change the rules at any time to ensure the fair administration of the contest and compliance with applicable laws. 

If for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as planned for any reason, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, and unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of FOX 50 which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity of the contest, FOX 50 reserves its right in its discretion to disqualify any individual it believes has tampered with the entry process, and/or cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. FOX 50 and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents and employees (i) assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alternation of, entries: (ii) are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or provider, computer equipment, software, failure of any email to be received by FOX 50, on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to the participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this contest.
