FOX 50 Family Fest - Duck Race intro

The Rubber Duckies are Back!

Thousands of people will line the banks of the Ol’ Bull River on Sunday, October 6th to watch the rubber ducks race down the river. Will you be the winner?

Race your Duck for three great Causes
Pick to race your duck for Durham Literacy Center, Marbles Kids Museum or the Museum of Life and Science. 100% of the proceeds from your duck purchase go to the non-profit you select. Individual and Corporate ducks can be purchased directly from each non-profit (look for the link below). The Great American Tobacco Duck Race has generated over $150,000 for area non-profits.

There will be prizes for winners of the Duck Race, at both the individual and corporate level. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. There will also be prizes awarded for the “Best Decorated Duck”. You don’t have to be present to win. Prizes include tickets to DPAC events, local sporting events, gift certificates and more! Duck Decorating Contest
There will be two Duck Decorating Contests, one at Pullen Park on October 5, 2013 and one at American Tobacco on October 6, 2013. "Race Ducks" can be decorated and entered into the Duck Decorating Contest. There will be prizes awarded for first, second and third place.

A panel of judges will choose their favorite duck and the audience will determine who the overall top three are based on applause.

A Duck Decorating area, sponsored by the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, filled with free art supplies, will be available for the public to decorate their ducks at both locations. Everyone who wants to enter the contest must place their decorated duck in the Duck Pool no later than 1:30pm at Pullen Park and at American Tobacco. Click here for Contest Rules. (PDF Format)

How to Buy Ducks
Individuals and companies can purchase one duck or as many as you want. "People Ducks" are $10 each and "Corporate Ducks" are $250 each.  Save $10 when you buy a Quack Pack of six "People Ducks"! Online purchases will include a sales confirmation that must be shown in order to pick up ducks and race bibs at participating non-profits or at the event.

On October 6, ducks will be simultaneously released to race down the Ol” Bull River. There will be prizes at both the individual and corporate level. The biggest winners are the people and communities these charities support.
