Event Description

Encaustic is an ancient, versatile and engaging medium for
creating art with hot wax. In this class, we explore the ways
that wax can be manipulated, patterned and abstracted
with fire. You will learn how to maneuver liquefied wax by
using safety rated butane and propane torches as both
paint brushes and fusing tools. We will cover safety issues,
ventilation, fusing and proper care for your final piece.
Nontoxic oil and dry pastels will be used to pigment your
painting. Ideally, each student will have a completed an
archival piece at the end of the class. A $40 materials fee is
due to instructor at each workshop. Please check DAC website
for additional supply list.
