Mini Camp 3: The Fabulous Fifties (Rising K-Age 13)

Mini camps are designed to fill the time right after and right before the start of school for year-round and traditional school students. Students are divided into age appropriate groups and participate in both visual and performing arts activities that are inspired by a weekly theme. DAC provides a fresh fruit snack. If your camper has food allergies to fruit, please pack a snack. Please pack your campers a brown bag lunch (no refrigerator or microwave available).Return to event list.
The 1950s were a time full of excitement and change. Television became popular as new film technologies were being developed. Abstract Expressionism was a new movement in art that showcased artists such as Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. A new generation was attracted to the theater with musicals by Rogers and Hammerstein, such as The Sound of Music. Come learn about a time before color television was standard and when comics were all the rage.
