November 10, 2012 will serve as the official kick-off event for Sparked With a Purpose, Inc. Although events have been held in the past, the Thanks-4-Giving Kick-Off Gala will present Sparked With A Purpose, Inc. to the community in formal fashion. As guests and supporters come out to the Garner Road YMCA in Raleigh, NC at 6:00pm, decked out in their formal attire, they will not only be able to enjoy food, fun, music, and dancing, but they will also have a chance to find out more about Sparked With A Purpose, Inc. and help in feeding several families and providing for those without homes during the Thanksgiving holiday season. The event will include Dennis Lee as the Master of Ceremonies,, a special performance from Carizma, a two-time performer on BET’s 106 and Park, a powerful keynote speech from Sparked With A Purpose, Inc. founder Renwick Pridgeon Jr., plus several other community and civic leaders. To increase the efforts of this event, Sparked With A Purpose, Inc. has partnered with Urban Ministries of Wake County, the Garner Road YMCA, Macedonia New Life Church, Preparing America’s Tomorrow Today, Miss Tea’s Lounge (Greensboro, NC) and the Homeless Project III, the Phi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Kreepers-N-Krawlers Daycare, and Tilted Nations.
Tickets for this Gala are $20 but can be purchased for $10 with the donation of 4 canned food or in-kind items. The items being collected include: Canned meats (tuna or chicken), Canned fruits, Canned vegetables (no corn), Canned soups, Canned beans (black, kidney, pinto, green), Breakfast cereal; grits, Powdered or boxed milk, Dried beans, Mac & cheese, Peanut butter and jelly, Pasta (dry or canned pasta meals), Rice, Juice/juice boxes, Hair brushes (compact), Individual packets of laundry soap, Facial tissues (individual packs), Anti-bacterial wipes, Disposable razors, Q-tips, Hand warmers for cold weather, Cotton socks (men, women, & children), T-Shirts (men, women, & children), Warm scarves/knit hats, Individual soap, Lotion (travel size), Sanitizer (travel size), Vaseline, Deodorant (men & women), Shampoo/conditioner, Facial tissues, Chap stick, Wash cloths/towels, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Mouthwash (alcohol free), Hair brush/comb set, and Winter coats.
Sparked With A Purpose, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in which the mission is to positively influence the community through praise and worship concerts, social events, conferences, fundraisers, and other community-uplifting efforts with the purpose of being a valuable resource to individuals, families, organizations, and charities. This organization was founded in 2012 by Renwick Pridgeon Jr., a current graduate student at East Carolina University. The individuals involved are looking to change lives through the efforts of this organization and look for no recognition in the process.
Sparked With A Purpose, Inc. has hosted two events thus far. In February 2012, the “Agape Love Praise Fest” was held in Raleigh, NC and over $1,300 was raised to donate to the family of Demarion Pittman, who was left in a van at his daycare facility which left him fighting for his life. Recently, on July 27, 2012, “A Night of Worship” was held at East White Oak Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC. The efforts of this program allowed for $500 to be raised and donated to A Room at the Inn of the Carolinas. This is an organization that supports and houses single, pregnant, homeless women and their children during and after their pregnancy.
The efforts of Sparked With A Purpose, Inc. are just beginning and more community efforts will be taking place in the very near future.
