This effort is a backlash against flat-line brain waves and “plugged-in” kids. We are trying hard to increase participation in chess locally, in order to enhance: critical thinking skills, cause and effect awareness, confidence and self-esteem in our kids. There are incredibly positive correlations with musical ability, math, reading – and best of all SAT scores – in chess-playing youngsters.
